ABOUT US

TexCan Sports Consulting
was founded by Kellie and Dave Schriver.

Kellie is a LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor) and ICRC (Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), with an AAC (Advanced Addictions Counselor) Certification. She obtained a degree in Addictions, from the Center for the study of addiction, at Texas Tech University. She received her formal counselor training from The Hazelden Foundation, in Center City, MN, and graduated in 1991. Also, Kellie has a certificate of completion from the Minnesota Council on Compulsive Gambling, Inc.

Kellie has over 15 years of practical experience providing substance abuse counseling to youths and adults, including professional athletes.

She led a multi-disciplinary team for The Health and Community Services in Canada, that developed the dual-diagnosis treatment services for people who live with an addiction and mental illness. She has extensive experience in working closely with Mental Health professionals both acute and long-term care, Addiction specialists, and acute emergency room medical staff.

Dave is a certified hockey coach; with a Masters Level certification with USA Hockey and an Advance Level certification with CAHA (Canadian Amateur Hockey Association). He has over 20 years of coaching experience with athletes from the ages of 9 to 24, at the competitive level of A through AAA and at the collegiate level. Dave is currently the head coach for the University of North Texas Hockey Team.

As parents, Dave and Kellie know firsthand the excitement and pressures that face youth athletes, because their children have participated in competitive sports. Through this experience they recognized the opportunity to improve the level of substance-abuse resources being provided to youth athletes.

Therefore, TexCan Sports Consulting was founded on the belief that athletes, who have the facts presented and support provided to them, will make responsible decisions to accomplish their athletic goals and live a healthy, chemical-free lifestyle.
